Weatherization Making a Difference in Our Communities
Supporting Safe Housing for an Older Resident
An older resident living alone struggled to keep her home warm due to an unreliable furnace and poor insulation. Winter conditions made it increasingly difficult to remain safely in the home.
Weatherization upgrades included a new furnace, improved insulation, and system replacements that restored reliable heat.
These improvements allowed her to remain in her home safely and maintain independence.
Restoring Heat During a Winter Emergency
During her first North Dakota winter, a resident lost heat after a gas leak forced her furnace to shut down. With temperatures dropping, the situation quickly became dangerous.
Community Action staff responded quickly, providing temporary heat and coordinating same-day repairs.
By the end of the day, the heating system was restored and the home was safe again.
Saving a Home and Small Business Through Weatherization
A homeowner was at risk of losing both his house and his livelihood due to serious structural and safety issues. A leaking roof and electrical hazards created dangerous conditions, and the home could not be insured.
Weatherization repairs addressed the most urgent problems, stabilizing the structure and removing safety risks.
The improvements allowed the homeowner to remain in his home and continue operating his business.
